These past few days I’ve been getting down to doing a lot of housekeeping on my blog, much of it dating from when I moved over to WordPress from Blogger. I still have some way to go, however I have done the following:
- Added a new page for books read in 2009. (Still to do – Links back to reviews)
- Updated Categories and Tags. Nearly all authors now have their own slot.
- I’ve converted most of the theme/setting/genre categories into tags now which appear in the cloud.
- Added a search box
… and finally – I’ve added another new page. D.I.Library. The D.I. stands for Desert Island, and here you’ll find details of all my favourite books – all the ones I’d want to find washed up in a large waterproof trunk should I ever be marooned. If you make it to the bottom of the page, you’ll see it’s not complete yet and I’ll be editing it as my hypothetical trunk’s contents change too! I’ll be interested to see if any of my choices match yours … feel free to comment on either page.
P.S. I’m now on facebook too – link to follow, but you can search for me…
P.P.S. Apologies to everyone whose reader is full of my updated posts. I thought I’d selected no pings on each post I re-categorised/retagged, yet this doesn’t appear to have fully worked. If you have commented on any old post though, I am reading and responding!

I agree – tinkering is so time-consuming! I love your new DI selection! Blindness and Flowers for Algernon are two of my favourites too. I haven’t heard of a lot of the others though, so will have to look them up – great new feature!
I am a fan of Desert Island Discs on the radio, so it seemed a more fun way of describing my favourite books than a top ten or something like that! I refuse to be limited in numbers though – my trunk is really a TARDIS!
Love the desert island library idea! I may steal that from you when I finally get round to tinkering with my own blog. I’ve always played the game to where I can only have five books and five DVDs on my desert island – but why stint myself that way??
Go for it Jenny!
I was thinking of doing a Desert Island list too – great minds think alike!
I’d noticed your tinkering – today Google Reader had 67 “new” posts from you!
Sorry – I tried to turn the pinging off, but failed obviously. Sorry
I’d love to see your list Margaret – you should do one soon!
The new front page completely baffled me for ages hahahaha. I couldnt work out what to do but now I know and love, love, love the DI idea. I have already offered to cover you on your holidays of you get a Radio 4 show of the same thing eventually hee hee.
By the way thats more me and my lack of orientation skills not the way the new post looks.
I was undecided how to do the front page – with this new template you have an option of 1 or 2 column post teasers … It may change if other people find it too complex
Of course you should realise that I’m copying your ‘Readers Table’ but with a different title! Thanks for the inspiration.
